ISC believes that student assessment, along with an effective curriculum and instruction, provides learning opportunities and important feedback that promotes student achievement and enduring understanding.
The school year consists of two distinct semesters of work, each of which includes two academic quarters. Progress reports are given mid-quarter and report cards are sent home at the end of each quarter. A Parent/Teacher conference is scheduled at the end of the first quarter and at the end of the third quarter, a Student-led Parent conference is held. During the first conference, parents meet with the teacher, and are provided a report of student progress. During the second conference, the parents and student meet with the teacher, providing an opportunity for students to review their work and progress with their parents.
In addition to their academic work, ISC students are evaluated on social skill development as well as work and study habits in daily class work.
A special set of criteria is used for the assessment of English as a second language and Portuguese as a second language learners.
